Mission Statement

The Camden Wollondilly Domestic Violence Committee plays an integral role in prevention work and in improving service delivery to women and children experiencing domestic violence in the Camden and Wollondilly local government areas.

Local Domestic Violence Committees are a program of the NSW Strategy to Reduce Violence Against Women. The Strategy seeks to reduce violence against women through the promotion of partnerships between government agencies, non-government agencies and women’s groups/services to address and respond to issues of violence against women, and the inclusion of a prevention focus in the practice and culture of all agencies and individuals.

The Camden Wollondilly Domestic Violence Committee works towards reducing violence against women by:

  • Raising local community understanding of the issues of domestic violence and its impact on women, children and the community.
  • Enhancing interagency responses to women and children affected by domestic violence.
  • Improving interagency networks, and developing collaborative partnerships with government, non-government agencies, businesses and the local community to address and respond to domestic violence in a coordinated approach.
  • Providing a forum where all agencies delivering services to women and children experiencing domestic violence can come together to discuss issues of concern, and advocate to address these issues at a systemic level, in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Providing education, information and resources to local services, businesses and community members.

Committee members are from government agencies, non government agencies and women’s groups/services working from a feministic perspective with women and children affected by domestic violence in the Camden and Wollondilly LGA’s.
